DUST JACKET INTRODUCTION:
NARROW GAUGE RAILWAYS IN MID-WALES
Since the last edition of Mr. Boyd's book on the narrow gauge lines of Mid-Wales, he has done a great deal of further research, and in the case of four of the lines (Talyllyn, Welshpool & Llanfair, Rheidol, and Fairbourne) there has been more history to record during the intervening years. Several hundred amendments have been made, a new section on miscellaneous mineral lines has been added, maps and drawings revised and forty new photographs included. This book deals not only with facts-though there are plenty of them, ascertained with the author's usual care -but also in its descriptive passages brings home to the reader the fascination of these narrow lines that pass through the beautiful and often wild scenery of Mid-Wales.
