In the last few years there has been a great upsurge in interest in modelling the New Zealand prototype.
In the past the difficulties confronting the New Zealand enthusiast could be summed up quite brieflyNo MaterialsNo Information. The Guild exists to solve these problems.
The material problem has greatly eased with a fair amount of equipment being produced locally and a large amount of overseas equipment is available and can be adapted. The Guild follows a policy of actively fostering and encouraging locally made products.
By the co-operative efforts of its members the Guild aims to provide information about New Zealand Railways. This aim is primarily achieved by the publication of The New Zealand Model Railway Journal, a bimonthly publication that features articles on the construction and operating practices of New Zealand Railwaysfull size and model. The Journal has over the years built up a reputation for the quality, and quantity of plans published, plans covering all aspects of the local railway scene and yard plans, loco plans, rolling stock, buildings, etc.
