INTRODUCTION
Reaching back into the past we find the ancestor of the model soldier. Carved wooden figures representing the guard of Prince Emsah were discoved in an Egyptian tomb dating back to 2000 B.C. Frederick the Great of Prussia used model soldiers of metal to plan his military campaigns while Napoleon used miniatures to plan his coronation.
It remained, until recently, a hobby enjoyed mostly by the "well-to-do" collector, but with the advent of craftsmen such as I/R Miniatures, the hobby enjoys a widespread popularity. The enthusiasm for assembling and painting these highly detailed kits has led us to compile this catalog. In it we offer a wide selection of the finest military miniatures available. These metal figures are sculptured to the internationally accepted scale of 54mm. (average height of 2-1/4"), or in todays terms, 1/32" scale. Molded as fine jewelry, there are no finer models on the market today. Included with each kit is an illustrated coloring guide, keyed to our specially developed "Original Military Colors". In addition we offer wood bases, brushes, epoxy glue, reference books, etc. All of these items are either made or recommended by I/R Miniatures.
