The big bugaboo in modeling this type of signal has been to get the blade to function in three positions. When the blade is normally vertical the indication is clear, when the blade is at an upward angle of 45the indication is proceed prepared to stop at next signal, and when the blade is horizontal the indication is stop. To have the blade behave in a railroadlike manner two solenoids are arranged to supply the necessary impetus to the blade at the proper time. In addition, three lenses-red, yellow and green -are installed in the positions shown. These are illuminated in turn as the blade indicates, by means of a beam of light which is projected upward from below the table.
