This Special Publication you are holdingMRHA's sixth since the release of MILWAUKEE ROAD'S RIB-SIDE CABOOSES in 1995follows close on the heels of two editions of HE MILWAUKEE RAILROADER, MRHA's quarterly color magazine, that featured The Milwaukee Road in Chicago in a big way: First Quarter 2007 and Second Garter 2007. These two issues carried a comprehensive look at the Milwaukee's emergence as a power player in the nation's railroad capital, including its role in carrying commuters. Other issues of TMR have also featured Chicago subject matter, notably Third Quarter 1995 ("Milwaukee Road Knocking at Chicago's Back Door: which covered the Chicago & Evanston line in detail), Second Quarter 2002 ("Along The Milwaukee Way: Fox Lake [Ill.] Suburban Branch"), Third Quarter 2004 ("Along The Milwaukee Way: Elgin and Spaulding, 111:'), Fourth Quarter 2004 ("Along The Milwaukee Way: Tower ASPacific Junction, Chicago"), and First Quarter 2006 ("Along The Milwaukee Way, Chicago's Deering Line"). Check with the MRHA on the availability of these back issues if you would like to obtain any. Special Publication No. 6, THE MILWAUKEE ROAD IN CHICAGO, is a supplement to all those issues, focusing on the railroad's freight operations in the Chicago area, including an insider's look at how Bensenville Yard functioned. If you are into Chicago railroading in general and the Milwaukee Road in particular, this book is a must!Mike Schafer
