Foreword
We visit the New York Central System for the second time in this volume. Our 1980 book, MEMORIES OF NEW YORK CENTRAL STEAM by Arnold Has took us through the steam era. This second NYC book touches briefly on the Central electrifications and a few other tidbits and then moves on to the diesel era. After an outstanding text by Bert Pennypacker which begin on page 35, we consider diesel switchers, switchers, road freight power and road passenger power in that order covering builders alphabetic in each section. The last few pages feature so post-Penn Central views on old NYC trackage the east.
