The Man From Steamtown The story of F Nelson Blount  By James Adair 224 Pages Copyright 1967 SOFT COVER SEALED IN PLASTIC - PLASTIC IS A LITTLE TORN
The fascinating biography of a New England blueblood who became a millionaire before he was thirty and went into the railroad business so he could he an engineer. F. Nelson Blount's interests have ranged from clams and tuna to piano playing and big game hunting. Trains have been an obsession since boyhood; in his youth he wrote a history of railroading, traveled the length and breadth of New England in pursuit of his hobby.
Searching for happiness. Nelson Blount lived it up with other codfish socialites. He tried everything from stunt flying to deep-sea fishing. He collected old guns, old cars, and finally a "thundering herd" of old steam locomotives in an effort to preserve the wonderful Steam Age.
Blount now owns two railroads and serves as chairman of the board at Steam-town, U.S.A. located at Bellows Falls, Vermont. This is the site of an exhibit of some fifty steam locomotives.
It took a tragic accident involving his wife to bring Blount to a realization that he couldn't buy happiness with money. This led to his inviting Christ into his life -a decision with far-reaching results. Today, five years after his conversion, Blount is an avid student of the Bible, an enthusiastic evangelist and a man of prayer.
The Man from Steamtown is the biography of one of the most colorful figures to appear on the Christian scene in this century. It's a story that moves as swiftly as the Twentieth Century limited or any of the other iron monsters that roared over the shining steel in the day when Steam was king.
