From that point of view no better railway system than this could have been selected as a subject. Locomotives of the Kansas City Southern, Louisiana \u0026amp; Arkansas, or Louisiana Railway \u0026amp; Navigation Company and its Texas lines were each in themselves amply distinctive and interesting. Consolidated in the late 1930's and pre-Diesel 1940's they were by all odds the most interesting and diversified assortment of steam locomotives possessed by any 1,600-mile, or much longer, railway system in the United States.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv style=\"text-align:left\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family:Calibri;font-size:1.13em;color:#000000;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;\"\u003eIn preparing this book, the locomotives are presented not only in terms of what they looked like but also of what they could do.
