INTRODUCTION
Since 1934, passengers riding on our boats have made requests for additional information on Sault Ste. Marie, the Soo Locks and the Great Lakes Shipping Industry. This book was designed to answer the most frequently asked questions that our crews have received over the years. To our knowledge it is the only tour book that focuses on the locks and the ships that use them. The information was attained through many hours of research and by first hand experience with people in the area.
This first volume has a special section on the major November shipwrecks. The volumes that follow will focus on subjects pertaining to ships, history, locks, and the people of the maritime industry. These books will become collectors items so don't miss a single printing.
Soo Locks Boat Tours has focused its attention to providing good family entertainment. As the years have passed we have attempted to improve our facilities and our products. The greatest thing we can offer you is quality service. That is the goal behind the publishing of this book.
We would encourage young people to use this book for school projects and reports. We would ask that adults use the book to help better understand the area and locks operation.
Thank you for making Soo Locks Boat Tours a part of your vacation. It is our hope that fond memories will bring you back to sail with us another day.
