Lionel Price and Rarity Guide 1901 to 1997 by Tom McComas and Charles Krone Plus Toy Train Revue #10  Soft Cover  280 pages Approx 10 1/2 X 4 1/4 inches
Welcome to the 1997 edition of TM's Lionel Price and Rarity Guide. We've made some major changes. First, we added 80 pages to cover the new chapters on Lionel HO, Lionel Plasticville and Postwar Lionel boxes. We also expanded the Postwar and Modern Era set sections, added all the new items Lionel has made since our last guide and added over 200 new entries spread over the various eras. This 1997 edition also includes issue number 10 of our Toy Train Revue magazine.
We plan to publish two price guides each year. The new 3-Rail guide (includes manufacturers of 0 gauge items other than Lionel) will be released in April and our Lionel guide will be released in October. Each guide will contain a new issue of our popular magazine, the Toy Train Revue Journal.
We are taking no more subscriptions for the magazine. Just buy our guides, and you will receive the next issue of the Toy Train Revue Journal as a bonus.
We receive many suggestions from our readers and we try to respond. The new sections are a result of reader's requests and we also re-wrote the "How to Use This Guide" section to make it more simple and direct.
As we have said many times, a guide is only as good as the input from its readers. Make suggestions. Applaud. Criticize. We can take it. We want to continually improve and with your help, we can.
It's an exciting time to be a toy train enthusiast. There's lots of energy all about the hobby. Lionel is approaching its 100th anniversary, the electronic bulletin boards are abuzz with controversy, there's all kinds on new electronic doodads being developed, and TM is is about to introduce a new CD program that includes not only a personal inventory program but will make photographs, technical information, historical information and live-action video on any Lionel item pop up on your screen almost instantaneously.
Lionel has released three new catalogs since February and the Century Club catalog features the best art we have ever seen in any toy train catalog. There are new dealer programs, new policies and the Century Club has been launched - the opening flurry of what may be the longest birthday party since the Bicentennial.
Competition is rife and more 0 gauge trains are being produced than ever.
If you're not having fun now, check your pulse.
