There are three sections of this book covering the rolling stock of early KATY equipment.
Section two contains copies of the original cloth-skinned diagrams used
by the mechanical department of the Katy. Most of the steam locomotives were
built during the 1870's, 1880's, and 1890's and part of the Katy's roster
of steam over the same period and into the early 1900's. You will notice a
great variety of steam locomotives owned by the Katy during its early years.
It is most interesting to notice the detailed printing on all locomotive specs.
Section number three diagrams are copies from a pamphlet of Katy work equipment that was used during the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's. It didn't include the passenger car and bunk car equipment used by the Katy during this period of history. The Katy had quite a collection of work equipment throughout the first half of the 1900's.
Section number four deals with the freight equipment owned by the M-K-T during the mid-1900's. Some of the equipment showed is still on the 1979 equipment roster. This equipment guide was updated until 1955-1956 era but was never updated after then. You will notice all of the equipment was basic freight cars used in the first half of the 1900's by most U.S.A. railroads.
Our two bulletins lack detailed written information on Katy locomotives and rolling stock but it does contain interesting diagrams and basic information on the specs. accompanying the diagrams.
