FOREWORD
Everyone has a story to tell. J.T. Eldridge tells his stories and also cleverly weaves in HIS story. These stories are believable because they are true. They draw from the same well of humor and wisdom that the story tellers who are gathered down at the local hangout drink from because he has sat thirsty among them. He writes with the flavor and insight of a man immersed in Southern culture because he is from the South. Within these pages you will find a child's curiosity, a mother's tenderness, and a father's wisdom. And HIS story is delivered with the skill of a missionary because he is a missionary.
The first time I read one of J.T.'s stories I sent him a note that said something like " J.T. you have a gift and you should write often and share them with other people. God will use your gift for His glory." The reality is that what is true of J.T. is true of you. At our Church we like to say,
"Everyone is a missionary and every place is a mission field." And don't worry if you've never thought about being a missionary before, it only took our Church about 90 of our 100 years of existence to figure it out! What you are about to read will at some point make you think, " I could have done this" and when that happens rest assured that J.T. would be the first to tell you that you are right. As I said before, everyone has a story to tell. But here is the difference between a believer and a follower- while everyone has a story not everyone tells their story. J.T. not only tells stories but he tells them well enough that you could retell them yourself. Of course that is part of what is intended here. But what would make J.T. even more proud than retelling his stories would be that his words have inspired you to tell your story. And as you are telling your story be sure to include how the goodness and graciousness of HIS story became real to you!

Johnny T. Eldridge was born into a Christian family in a small town in rural Tennessee. Graduating high school at the age of seventeen he moved to Florida to pursue his dream of working on the railroad. He is a former Locomotive Engineer who worked for two major railroad from 1973 through 2002. Throughout his career he worked and traveled over the eastern United States and served in many different positions with the railroads. As a member of Huffman Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama he currently serves on the Deacon Council and as Young Adult 2 Leader in the Sunday school program.
