This book describes the history of the line from Stratford to Cheltenham from its embryonic beginnings right through to todays preservation efforts at Toddington.
From humble beginnings, as the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway, the text relates the lines steady growth to become an important through route by the turn of the century. The author has unearthed a wealth of new material including the havoc wrought on the local community by the influx of hundreds of unruly navvies!
143 illustrations have been included, most of which are previously unpublished - well researched and with a considerable amount of new material this book makes for a most enjoyable and leisurely read.
