INTRODUCTION:
Volume One comprised the 'standard' wagons in LMS diagram page order and, in many respects, was arranged as an 'illustrated diagram book'. A similar style has been adopted for the first part of this volume which has been divided into a number of sections as detailed in the index. The introduction to Volume One included the various acknowledgements for both volumes and in presenting this second and final volume, dealing with LMS stock, I have endeavoured to provide sufficient information to enable modellers to build 'that particular vehicle'
Readers will note that, wherever possible, the LMS drawing numbers have been quoted so that, as and when they become available to modellers, identification of the correct drawing for each diagram will be possible.
A few slight errors may be found and most certainly there are some omissions. Pictures of every vehicle in various conditions are not available but, at least, it has been possible to use every picture which was available to tell the story. K. R. Morgan, my co-author of The LMS Wagon, published by David & Charles in 1977, has been kind enough to provide a section dealing with wagon construction and this useful addition, for modellers, forms part of the final section of this book.
Finally, my grateful thanks go to my wife, Wynne, who has turned my scrawl into a working manuscript, and to my son, Steven, who completed the typing.
R. J. Essery, Orpington 1983
