The passenger car brake equipments that are described in this instruction paper are no longer applied to modern passenger cars, but these equipments are still to be found on cars of less modern construction. It necessarily follows with brake equipments that have passed through the development stages that very little changes can be made in texts relating to them on successive reprints. However, slight changes have been made from time to time where it was thought the text could be made more easily understood.
This instruction paper was reviewed in 1938 by J. W. Harding, Director, Steam Railroad, School, and found to be fundamentally sound.
