DUST JACKET INTRODUCTION
A history of Highland locomotives by M C V Allchin has, since its publication in 1947, been the standard work of reference for railway enthusiasts and modellers seeking details of the Highland Railway's engines. It has of course long been out of print and Peter Tatlow has taken the opportunity in his revision of this book to provide the present day reader with as full a picture as possible of this magnificent group of locomotives.
Following a general review and an outline of the sometimes extravagant livery worn by these engines, he sets out to portray each class in turn by means of lists, 155 photographs and 45 drawings. In similar manner to his previous book A pictorial record of LNER wagons, each page is provided with an extended caption to the illustrations and the book is completed by an extensive appendix presenting factual data. It should therefore be of interest to both the railway student and modeller alike.
All pictures are of the actual item. There may be reflection from the lights in some photos. We try to take photos of any damage.
