Presented in this book are over 100 track plans and an article by Roland LaVoie. "Large Lionels in Small Spaces". After reading LaVoie's tale of how he built his packed and fun-to-operate layout, you will be ready to forge ahead and select your own track plan. The track plans, described by Cliff Lang on pages 6 through 32. offer endless possibilities for creating the "perfect layout" They range from simple ovals and figure eights that can be quickly assembled on the floor or on a small table to large, complex configurations that take a great deal of track and switches and require time to construct on a permanent basis.
All of the plans presented may be built with currently available three- rail tubular 0 Gauge or lighter weight, low- profile 0-2'7 track sections and their matching switches and crossings.
Three manufacturers currently make a variety of three-rail tinplate track. Their names, addresses and the track components they make are listed on the rear cover. It is also possible to construct many of the plans featured in this book using discarded track components once produced by toy train companies no longer in business, such as Marx. American Flyer, Marklin, Ives, Dorfan and Carlisle & Finch, to name a few.
