A related source of variation is the seller's of the year. The train market is slower in the summer and sellers may at this time be more inclined to reduce prices if they really want to move their inventory. Another important source of price variation is the relative strength of the seeler's desire to sell and the buyer's eagerness to buy. Clearly a seller in economic distress will be more eager to strike a bargain. Additional consideration must be given to the degree of interest held by the buyer and seller. For example, an old GP-9 with Hi-F drive may be treasured by a collector and sold in the bargain box by a disinterested dealer. On the other hand, it is in the interest of sellers to present their merchandise in the best possible light. Thus, a seller may state emphatically that this metal freight car or that Hi-F powered locomotive is a true rarity worthy of an inflated price tag. A final source of variation is the personalities of the seller and buyer.
