Ever an individual railway company, the Great Western used the term 'Service Time Tables' while most lines described such instructions to their staff as Working Time Tables.
This reprint details the trains worked over the Vale of Neath line and its associated branches in south Wales, shewing local passenger and excursion services, the pick-up goods, coal trains, and empty wagons returned to the collieries that provided heavy traffic to the valley lines, together with the special workings of iron ore to the steel works at Dowlais and trains of coal bound for London that were worked through from Aberdare to Swindon by 2-8-0 engines from Aberdare shed.
In addition to the train times are details of signal boxes and their opening hours, speed restrictions, and arrangements for banking, shunting and working traffic.
