The draconian cutbacks in the railway system in the 1960s saw many of the routes featured in this album swept away in an orgy of destruction that robbed many tiny communities of their links with the outside world. The network of rural lines in Wales, as in most areas, developed as a result of the desire of local citizens to see their own town connected to the railway system which was rapidly expanding in the middle years of the nineteenth century.
