Glossary143
The toy train operators featured in this book are as diverse as they are interesting, and so are their layouts. From Ralph Johnson, a former Southern Pacific porter. to Frank Sinatra, the great singer. From Tom Sefton, who has his own railroad car, to Chuck Brasher, who has his own construction company. From Ward Kimball, the Academy Award winning animator, to Stan Roy, an electronic genius.
Each has an approach of his own. One can run 27 trains at once, another considers his layout an animated scrapbook of his life, the scenery as important as the trains. Some operators run only Lionel, some only American Flyer. Some only 0 Gauge. others only Standard Gauge. Some a little bit of each.
This is a work that should be in the library of serious collectors, who will be interested In the technical aspects of each layout and the type of equipment used.
But anyone with even a casual interest in toy trains will enjoy the pictures and reading about the thematic concepts of the collectors-operators.
Brilliant photographs are in full-color
