Pullman was born only seven years after Lafayette's famous visit to America in 1824; and only two years after the celebrated "Rainhill Trials" near Liverpool, in England in 1829, when George Stephenson's "Rocket" won in steam locomotive competition- and opened a Transportation Era for Civilization.
