Extra 2009 has a challenge getting to Bethlehem Steel and not block the oncoming eastbound passenger train. The preceding westbound passenger train was late, and waiting for Amtrak to clear caused it more delay. Then it had to meet an eastbound at Sheridan, which in turn had to pass Shops before 2009 could proceed west. SouthShore freights are running amid passenger trains reflecting tight dispatching, a South Shore trait for decades.
