FRONT COVER PHOTO
Doesn't Chicago, Aurora & Elgin car 312 look great on July 16, 1938? It's clean, right to the freshly laundered white flag which signifies that it will be an extra train when it leaves the Laramie Avenue storage yard and runs empty to Wells Street Terminal in preparation for one of the rush hour trains this afternoon. Resplendent in Washington blue, gray and brilliant red, the car has recently gone through a major overhaul program. The campaign to fix up all of the CA&E wooden cars had begun in 1935 by borrowing some North Shore steel cars so that the CA&E woods could be spared from the line's busy commuter service long enough to put them through the shop. Couple up to pages 8-11 and read all about the car
