JERRY DOLPH'S GRITTYoften humorousstory of contemporary hardrock mining is a view of the industry through the eyes of the miners themselves. The author routinely experienced hardship and danger as a hardrock miner in North Idaho's Silver Valley, at Butte, Montana, and in other western mining regions. Humor and swagger were, at times, the only defense he and his fellow workers had against the stark reality of the daily hazards they faced.
