INTRODUCTION
Many words have been written about preserved steam locomotives, and the format for this book is (by virtue of the task involved) very similar. It is a story of heroic efforts to save an engine from the cutters torch; the struggles against time and money; squabbles within the society set up to save the engine; problems of procuring parts; and finally winning through despite everything. So what's so different about this story?
In some ways very little, but hopefully I have put over the saga of Battle of Britain Class locomotive No 34081 92 Squadron in a different light that will make the reading of it both more absorbing and enjoyable.
