Moreover, new information on the early days of the Witney Railway was researched for the author's M.A. Thesis 'Victorian Witney \u0026amp; Its Railway' (University of Leicester, 1975) and it seemed sensible to include this previously unpublished material in the new edition, together with several previously unpublished plans and diagrams. Although this present history can be seen as a reprint of the 'Witney \u0026amp; East Gloucestershire' (and has taken its place in the new Oakwood list of titles) it is in effect an entirely new book, and in recognition of this fact a new title  'The Fairford Branch'  seemed appropriate.
