ON THE BACK COVER:
Atlas may have carried the world on this shoulders, but took Euclid and Terex to rearrange its surface features. With lines of dozers, scrapers, haulers, and dump trucks-all in the famous "green iron" livery-Euclid and Terex proved that not all of the great earth-moving machines were yellow.
The history of the green iron, from its earliest days as the Euclid Road Machinery Company through the years that both Euclid and Terex were divisions of the General Motors Corporation, covers one of the greatest periods of earth-moving equipment production. From the first true off-highway hauler, to the largest rear dump truck ever built, Euclid and Terex played critical roles in construction, mining, and building projects around the world.
Euclid and Terex Earth-Moving Machines relates the story of some of the most incredible heavy equipment ever created. The thoroughly researched text is illustrated by more than 170 color and b&w images, most never before published. Special emphasis is placed on the GM years, which represent a long overlooked chapter in the automotive giant's history. Highlights include detailed discussions and photos of amazing engineering feats like the Twin-Powered haulers and scrapers, the mighty TC-12 "Super-Dozer", and the huge 33-19 Titan truck. Also included are sections on military applications, experimental machines, and one-of-a-kind specials.
Eric C. Orlemann-who has a "taste for the green iron"-is the author of Giant Earth-Moving Equipment also published by Motorbooks International.
