About the book...
The Erie had the role of an underdog among eastern roads but made the most of things and became a well respected fast freight forwarder and much more. A modest but attractive through passenger fleet added to the overall appeal of the road and the east end featured all sorts of commuter runs. All this is found within plus a look back to broad gauge days and then the camelback power of the anthracite era. Diesel power coverage extends into the merger days after 1960.
