The late Eric Treacy, the Bishop of Wakefield, was a photographer first and foremost. He was always seeking that elusive, perfect picture and would frequent the same location time and time again. The result was a unique historical record of trains in action at various key locations.
Until now most of Treacy's work has been presented 'across the board' as a pot-pourri of wonderful railway images drawn from his full repertoire. However this compilation is a very carefully selected collection of his photographs depicting the London Midland & Scottish Railway. Eric Treacy was very much a `main line' man and he regarded the West Coast route as the most interesting and rewarding line for his work.
In addition to first class photography, we have detailed and informative captions by David Jenkinson, drawing attention to the wealth of ancillary detail visible in the background and surrounding areas, together with the train make up etc.
This is a true delight for all those who simply enjoy looking at high quality railway pictures - and for those wishing to learn more about the main line operation of the LMS.
