Frankly an experiment, this volume of favorite interurban pictures has been compiled in response to a demand for unusual interurban photographs. Most of the views selected would be impossible to take today - the roads or equipment simply no longer exist, or else, they've changed so much as to appear entirely different. So, in this respect we have not presented an up-to-date review of electric interurbans, believing you might prefer to start with some of the old-timers.
One exception: we just couldn't resist showing how one road has recently used paint to zip up the appearance of rolling stock that is old enough to have proved itself durable. It was sort of a tractional trip to the beauty parlor for a 1945 style facial.
Collecting railroad photographs is in a way like eating popcorn in that the first few just whet your appetite for more to come. Many thousands of electric railroad pictures, old and new, are at hand, but nevertheless plans for future volumes are based on your response and contributions of material. Publication rates will be paid for pictures when used, and, of course, full credit lines will be given.
The quality of this publication could not be without the experience and guidance of the printers, who through Trains Albums of Railroads have discovered and perfected the technique of presenting railroad pictures in print, and the publishers gratefully acknowledge this.
