PREFATORY REMARK.
HIS little book is chiefly intended to give the traveller an idea of the various beauties of the scenery of the East and South-east of Switzerland. It neither pretends to give exhaustive intelligence concerning these parts of Switzerland, nor does it intend to replace a traveller's guide. It has not the object either of serving as an advertisement for certain businesses, therefore the hotels are enumerated as, completely as possible, but in an entirely unbiassed way. The tourist is therefore referred to the Hotels of Switzerland, which guide can be procured gratis at every Inquiry office. We specially recommend the traveller to make use of the Inquiry offices for information of all kinds (see list p. 82).
