Two of the first articles we published on the craft were \"Dollhouse Furniture\" by Louise Prewitt, included in this -volume. At that time we naively believed that people made dollhouse furniture primarily as children's playthings. It soon became apparent, however, that most dollhouse furniture is made not for children but as models to be collected and displayed in a miniature room or house. We learned about the importance of scale in miniaturization, and that there were thousands of hobbyists actively engaged in the creation of perfectly scaled homes, furnishings, and accessories. This issue was soon sold out, although we still receive frequent requests for it and for other issues, also no longer available, containing articles about miniatures. Those requests, along with many letters from readers asking for more about miniatures, inspired this book, comprised of all the articles published about dollhouses and dollhouse miniatures from Fall of 1968 to August 1974.
