Die Grfdie Neugestaltung waren vielfArt: In der Fahrzeughalle herrschte eine drangvolle Enge, die jede Aufstelweiterer Originalfahrzeuge ausschlo, so daein Hallenwar. Museumsdidaktisch waren Msicht. Andererseits boten freiwerdende Rdie Chance, neue Themen aufzugreifen. Eine gastronomische Betreuung fehlte ebenso wie angemessene Arbeitsrfdie Benutzer des Archivs. Schlieerwiesen sich die haustechnischen Installaals erneuerungsbed.
Schon in den ersten Gesprzwischen der Stadt Nund der Bundesbahndirektion Ndie Jubilkamen OberbDr. Urschlechter und der Prder BD N, das Verkehrsmuseum als zentralen Bestandteil des Ausstellungsgeschehens in die Jueinzubeziehen. Die Rahmenvereinbarung vom 22. Januar 1981 enthdemzufolge drei groAusstel:
Die kulturhistorische Ausstellung der Zeit - Zeit der Z" der N.,Eisenbahnjahr-Ausstellungsgesellschaft mbH" und die DB-Leistungsschau im ehemaligen " am Ostbahnhof, dazu das Verkehrsmuseum Nin der Ndes Hauptbahnhofs.

The Jubilee "150 Years of German Railways" gave all reasons to revise the Verkehrsmuseum in Nuremberg, but it was to be expected that the treasures of the railway museum would find the special interest of thousands of visitors just in the Jubilee of 1985.
The reasons for the new design were varied: in the vehicle hall there was an urgent tightness, which excluded any further set-up of original vehicles, so that a new building was overdue. Museum deficits were visible. On the other hand, vacant spaces offered the opportunity to take up new topics. A gastronomic support was missing as well as suitable workspaces for the users of the archive. Finally, the domestic installations proved to be a necessity.
Already during the first talks between the City of Nuremberg and the Federal Railroad Directorate-General Nuremberg on the jubilee events, Lord Mayor Dr. Urschlechter and the President of BD Nuremberg agreed to include the traffic museum as a central part of the exhibition activities in the jubilee activities. The framework agreement of 22 January 1981 therefore contains three large exhibition blocks:
