The road was only a few weeks in operation when my whole family made the trip to the top of Tamalpais by train. It was a great day for engineer Jake Johnson and me when we were given the honor of taking the first passenger train into Muir Woods. So, as with many other railroads, the little Tamalpais mountain line was caught in the tide and had to bow with its many brothers and sisters to the march of progress. Now, through the work of many hours of research and months of collecting data and stories and pictures, those days of the \"Crookedest Railroad in the World\" are lived again in this hook.
