The Complete Motorist
Elwood Haynes is a young man. We have grown so rapidly into the automobile age that it is natural we should picture the "father of the automobile industry" as a venerable patriarch. But Haynes is young in heart, body and mind. His idea of making a gasoline-driven car was the inspiration that is the flower of youth. Always, from early boyhood, a person who "wanted to know" and "wanted to do," his inventive genius became second nature with him.
So today we take the automobile for granted. And too many of us take Elwood Haynes for granted. We do this just as we take Edison for granted, just as we accept Marconi's wireless as an everyday thing, just as we watch an aeroplane in a matter-of - fact way.
