Understanding the history of toys and how they are made will help you as a collector. Familiarizing yourself with American toys is especially useful.
There have been toys as long as there have been children. Many ancient toys have survived and can be seen in museums. These playthings include hobbyhorses from China, pull toys from Greece, clay and glass marbles from Rome. Children played with toys in ancient Egypt, too. Various playthings, including board games and pull toys, have been found in the Pharaohs' tombs.
