All four-South Side, Metropolitan, Northwestern, and Lake Street, were loosely \"consolidated\" into an operating association in 1913 to facilitate through-routing, and were further amalgamated into the Chicago Rapid Transit Company in 1924. This volume will cover about half the total fleet-all cars built prior to the assumption of control by the CTA October 1, 1947.
