The name was later changed to the Chicago \u0026amp; Illinois Midland Railroad and then expanded. In 1926 portions of the defunct Chicago, Peoria \u0026amp; St. Louis Railroad were purchased and upgraded to give the Midland a main line through Springfield to Peoria via Havana.
