Nevertheless, Pere Marquette steam power remained lettered for that railroad until retired, with a few exceptions, and much of the diesel power carried its former owner's name until the 1960's, especially some of the yard switchers. After C\u0026amp;O took control of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in early 1963, much of the C\u0026amp;O first generation diesel power was transferred to the power hungry B\u0026amp;O or traded in on new motive power.
