The first ship to offload its cement was the m. v. It has the capacity to unload between 600 to 800 tons of cement per hour. The Siwertell unloader has a patented head (or pickup nozzle) consisting of an inner screw which rotates clockwise and an outer screw which rotates counterclockwise. Each silo has a 8,300 ton capacity and there are six silos for a total of 49,800 tons. Movement of cement to each of the six silos is controlled by a series of gates and is regulated by monitors with automatic shut-off devices to prevent overloading.
