One can say that Martin Burwash grew up as a photographer with the inception of the Burlington Northern, literally. To hear his story " I ran my first roll of 120 Tri-X through the camera two weeks after the merger in March, 1970." What makes this book, Cascade Division, so unique is that Martin was sixteen years old when the Great Northern and Northern Pacific came together as part of that enormous wedlock on March 2, 1970. Now, most boys that age are more interested in sports, cars and girls, not to say Martin didn't have a passing interest in all of the above, but Martin possessed an additional interest: his love for the dramatics of railroading. Through a god-given ability, he transformed that love within the view finder of his camera into a future product called Cascade Division.
