Much has been written on many aspects of railways in Canada, however little has been published on their freight and passenger cars and maintenance-of-way rolling stock. The purpose of this book is to provide color photographs of a sample of freight cars, passenger cars and maintenance-of-way rolling stock owned and operated by regional railways and private owners in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and Yukon Territory from 1951 to 2007. Many of the cars were built many years earlier. This book does not provide a definitive coverage, but only a sample of typical cars. Equipment that was in captive service within a company's property is generally not included. This volume is the second of two volumes. Volume 1 includes equipment that was, or is, owned or commonly seen in Ontario and east.
