PREFACE
The response to the first volume has been most gratifying. As a result of my request for additional material in the preface of the first book many readers have contacted me with offers of slides to be used in subsequent volumes. In fact, so much has come in that our plans have been changed, we will now cover the whole of North America in four volumes instead of three; therefore, the scope of this volume has been reduced from covering the Central and South to just, The South. By spreading out the coverage we were also able to reduce the list price by ten dollars; however, the first volume was the biggest bargain in train books, because it had over 350 color photos, more in fact than would be found in over $90 worth of the usual hard cover books. My request for new material can never be satiated, so please do not hesitate to get in touch if you think you have material that would be appropriate.
