A gentle man, and who despite personal difficulty was ever willing to welcome me into his home to recount the stories of his working life at Burghclere and particularly as a signalman. Sadly he passed away some years ago and it was only some time after this, that part of a former train register from Burghclere Signal Box came into my possession.
