Created in 1912 as the Pacific Great Eastern Railway the line had a rather tumultuous beginning and a checkered 92 year history. Nicknamed \"Please go Easy\", or \"Past God's Endurance\", PGE worked in relative obscurity for most of the first 40 years of its existence. But by the 1980's, the railway had reinvented itself and was an expanding transportation system that was vital to the future for the Province of British Columbia.
