It is an historical record of the last years of an era in public transport when the name of Beeching was unknown to the railway man, and many branch lines, now closed, seemed as if they would last forever. Some of the most interesting steam locomotives from all parts of the British Isles are depicted in this volume which will appeal to all enthusiasts, young and not-so-young.
