realise that1 an astonishing number of colour transparency images of our railways had survived from the pre-1950 era. The general concensus was `probably not' until by great good fortune, two or three hitherto unknown collections (totalling over 100 images) came to my attention by way of photograph submissions for the house magazines which my firm publishes.
