One hundred years ago street railway transportation came to Beaver County, when the BEAVER VALLEY STREET RAILWAY began to operate horsecars in New Brighton and Beaver Falls. Shortly, this initial line was electrified and rails reached all of the principal towns along the Beaver and Ohio Rivers. Interurbans reached west to Steubenville, Ohio and north to Ellwood City and New Castle, Pennsylvania. However, a planned connection with the PITTSBURGH RAILWAYS was never built.
