This book is a guide to rail travel in Britain. One of the most popular ways to travel on the British Railways is with the BRITRAIL PASS. The YOUTH PASS is another excellent bargain for rail travelers from 14 through 22 years. Before we elaborate on the contents of this guide, some of the most frequent questions about the BRITRAIL PASS and YOUTH PASS will be answered.
WHAT IS A BRITRAIL PASS ?
A BRITRAIL PASS is a ticket for unlimited rail travel in Britain. It can be bought for either First Class travel or for Economy Class travel.You must purchase this pass before you leave for Britain. Once you are in Britain, this BRITRAIL PASS is your ticket for any train operated by the British Railways in England, Wales and Scotland. You do not have to obtain a separate ticket for each rail journey because the one BRITRAIL PASS is your valid ticket for all your rail trips. Just show and go. The YOUTH PASS can be bought for second class rail travel in Britain. Except for this point and the age restrictions, it is similar in scope to the BRITRAIL PASS.
